About Me

If you're reading this, you may be wondering who this person is who has taken the time to put her thoughts about education into words online for the world to read. At least, that's what I would be wondering if I were in your position.

My name is Carrie and I have been a teacher in North Texas for 21 years. My first and primary teaching passion has been middle and high school theatre arts. I have also taught communication, debate, and genius hour. I love to help students learn and to create relationships built on trust and mutual respect.

I'm a mom to two girls and my husband is also a high school theatre teacher. My brother teaches kindergarten in North Carolina and for several years, my sister taught 5th and 6th grade ELAR in west Texas. Our parents were not teachers, but our Great Aunt Mary Alice taught for many years in The Panhandle of Texas. She inspired us all to live our lives as though they matter - because they do!

I believe in authenticity in my teaching and my life. In that vein, I will tell you, the reader, that I am creating this page as part of an assignment for my masters program in Educational Technology and Leadership from Lamar University. Will I continue this page beyond my education? I would like to think so, but I have to be honest with myself and with you. I'm not sure.
