Carrie Stephens,
 Director of Theatre

     Carrie Stephens is the director of theatre at Navo Middle School. This is her third year at Navo, and her 22nd year teaching theatre in North Texas. She received her BFA in theatre education from (Southwest) Texas State University and her MEd from Lamar University in Education Technology and Leadership. She has loved performing on stage since the second grade and discovered her love for working backstage on productions in high school. Her favorite types of shows are musicals, children’s shows, and anything with fantasy qualities. Her achievements include Dallas Summer Musical Awards nominations, selection for Texas Thespian Black Box Performances, National Qualifiers in Thespian Individual Events, judging and coaching UIL Prose and Poetry competitions, and an appearance in the UIL One Act State Contest in 2018.

 

     Mrs. Stephens grew up in San Marcos, TX and met her husband there in a directing class. He is the theatre director at Princeton High School. She has two daughters who attend Braswell and NMS, 5 French Bulldogs (Tennessee, Stella, Dirk, Ruby, and Roxi) a cat named Maggie, a corn snake named Niko, and a ball python named Apollo who all live right down the road in Paloma Creek. She loves to create crafts including cards, t-shirts, and paper flowers in her spare time. Mrs. Stephens loves teaching and learning, and is excited about making this school year enriching and empowering for every student.

Jasmine Friedner-Eggins,
 Assistant Director of Theatre

Jasmine Friedner-Eggins (or just Ms. Friedner) is the assistant director of theatre at Navo Middle School. This is her first year at Navo Middle School. She received her BFA in theatre with an emphasis in tech and design and a minor in English from Texas Woman’s University. She has always had a knack for the fine arts and storytelling and has been involved in theatre since her sophomore year in high school. Her favorite types of shows are musicals, children’s shows, and comedies. She has worked with Theatre Denton’ Theatre School in their summer production camps as a tech intern and a technical director.
