My definition of leadership is someone who facilitates growth, moves a group of people toward a common goal, and empowers others to reach their potential. Management focuses on a task and does not always consider the human element involved in achieving the task. A leader focuses on both the task and the people involved. There are some management skills needed to be a leader. You must be able to keep the task/ goal in mind while leading. You need to be able to assess the data given to you and motivate others to move towards your goal. In my opinion, a manager can carry out tasks, but does not have the vision for goals that a leader has.
